Stone Buddha ~ Sakyamuni
The pictured hand carved stone Buddha was crafted from rough Himalayan stone by artisans in India. The carving is done "cave style" with only the front side carved and the rest left as natural rock. The Buddha's gesture is called the bhumisparsa mudra, showing Buddha with his right hand in the earth-touching gesture commemorating Gautama Buddha's moment of enlightenment under the Bo tree in Bohdgaya, India.
