Stone Buddha ~ Protection

The pictured hand carved stone Buddha was crafted from a very colorful type of Himalayan stone by artisans in India. The carving has been made "cave style" with only the front side carved and the rest left as natural rock. The Buddha's pose is called the abhaya mudra, the "gesture of protection" or "fearless pose". It symbolizes protection, the dispelling of fear, benevolence, and peace.
