Stone Mantra Plaque
This beautiful stone plaque was hand carved by skilled artisans in Nepal. It shows Five Buddhas with five different hand gestures, mudras, (the second one is unknown to me). The first is Varada, a gesture of giving or charity. The third is Sakyamuni Buddha in the Bhumisparsa mudra calling the earth to witness his victory over Mara. The fourth gesture is teaching, the Dharmachakra mudra, or fuming the wheel of law. the Fifth Buddha is protection, Abhaya, the traditional gesture of appeasement. A wonderful work of stone carving from the Himalayas.
